Admission Deadlines 

The University Grants Commission has given the green light to over 80 universities to offer many online distance learning courses. This notice was issued on March 19, 2024. Interested candidates are hereby informed that the last date for admission to OL and ODL courses is March 31st, 2024.

UGC approves universities for ODL and OL courses

The UGC has published a list of higher educational institutions (HEIs) authorized to offer online and distance learning programs. According to the official announcement, it has approved a minimum of 80 universities to provide various OL and ODL courses.

Included in these universities are Acharya Nagarjuna University located in Guntur (Andhra Pradesh), Dibrugarh University situated in Assam, Panjab University located in Chandigarh, and Jamia Millia Islamia situated in Delhi. Deadlines and Submissions 

The UGC has announced that the deadline for admissions to OL and ODL programs is March 31, 2024. Additionally, the final date for submitting student data on the portal is April 15, 2024. The details must be provided on the UGC-DEB web portal.

Compliance with Regulations

The UGC emphasized that it had called for online applications from eligible HEIs. The invitation for applications was in line with Regulation 3(A) and Regulation 3(B)(b) of the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020. This includes its subsequent amendments, aimed at recognizing programs offered under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL and OL) modes.

The official notice states that higher educational institutions must strictly adhere to all terms and conditions outlined in the University Grants Commission (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020, along with their amendments. They must also adhere to instructions and notices issued by the UGC and other relevant statutory and regulatory bodies.

Guidelines issued by UGC for OL and ODL courses

The UGC has provided guidelines for students to consider before enrolling in programs offered through open and distance learning (ODL) and/or online learning (OL) modes. The notice specifies that these regulations set out the minimum standards of instruction for awarding undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Additionally, they apply for postgraduate diplomas with a duration of two years in open and distance learning and/or online mode.
