On Monday, a meeting about the implementation of NEP at DU was held. The academic meeting approved the 4 years UG Program for the next academic session. The meeting held on Monday even included the many entry and exits at DU under the new NEP.
DU has decided on its implementation from academic session 2022-23. This has bought a huge spark to the teachers union. DUTA has called a strike against it. Whereas, the standing committee on academic matters has approved the four-year UG program. And, the multiple entry and exit.
However, they have declined the request for MOOCs, for the time being. MOOC or (Massive open online courses), where the discipline will be taught online.
NEP 2020:DU ENTRANCE MUST BE FOR OTHER VARSITY STUDENTS

But, This has triggered a row at DU among the teachers association. DUTA struck against the NEP 2020. As many teachers stated that it would be the next step towards privatization of public-funded Universities. This can be harmful to the students from the Reserved and EWS category. And, it would degrade the quality of education, they added.
NEW EDUCATION POLICY (NEP): ANALYSIS
The university has formed a 42 member committee for its implementation. The standing committee’s recommendation with the academic council will come out soon. Whereas, the University formed 42 member committee that has recommended continuing the 3-year degree. And, to give structure to the 4-year program and later implement it. The committee has also recommended after the given structure a 1-year master’s program must be structured. But, until then a 2-year Postgraduate program must continue.
For the HONS courses, the committee has recommended holding on to 3 years degree course and later absorb it for 4 years HONS degree course, along with a research course. The committee has also said, that the quality of education must not deteriorate.
MUSIC AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION ARE LIKELY TO BE NEW ADDED COURSES IN DU
The degree course must not be compromised by the university, they added. And so the existing structure must continue along with the addition of some new different courses. However, the process must be done easily and the student’s quality of education must be kept as the topmost priority. These are some of the key matters to be discussed under NEP.
