Yesterday, the shining star of the Indian Cricket Team Virat Kohli decided to step down as white-ball captain. Kohli said that he would not be leading the Indian Cricket Team anymore. After the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, he would serve the nation by being a part of the team.

The captaincy would be handed over to some other batsman. Virat Kohli put a message on social media and announced that he will leave the T20 captaincy after the UAE tournament. The BCCI did not ask Kohli to take this decision, it is his own.

REASON BEHIND VIRAT KOHLI LEAVING HIS CAPTAINCY

The reason behind leaving his captaincy is nothing but his concentration on batting. He wants to devote sufficient time to his skills and give himself enough space to brush up on them. Virat said in his social media announcement that he understands workload is an important thing. But he wants to be fully ready to lead the team in test and ODI cricket as T20 captain. He has performed his best while leading the team and he will continue to do so as a batsman as well.

Rohit Sharma is the vice-captain of the white ball and he’s one of the top ODI batsmen in the world. He has achieved a record of three double centuries and IPL’s most successful skipper with five titles. Rohit shares a great bond with the teammates as well. The team wants him to be back being the best batsman in the world. ODI is not the only focus right now. The team has to focus on T20 World Cups also.

BCCI DID NOT ASK VIRAT KOHLI TO LEAVE HIS CAPTAINCY

Knowing Virat Kohli’s decision, BCCI said that Kohli decided to step down as captain after ICC men’s T20 World Cup. He will continue with the selection of the T20 format. The secretary of BCCI said that he had various discussions with Virat and the leadership team for the last six months. Virat Kohli will continue to be a player and a senior member to shape the future of the Indian cricket team.

Saurav Ganguly is the president of BCCI. He said that Virat is a true asset for the team and one of the most successful captains in all the formats. He respects his decision and thanks him for his tremendous performance as the captain. Ganguly wishes him all the best for the World Cup and hopes that he achieves a lot more and scores plenty of runs for the team and the nation.
