On January 2, 2021, the foundation stone for the IIM Sambalpur will be laid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will head the virtual ceremony of the permanent campus in Odisha.
Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur said that all the campus work will be completed by April 2022. The campus will be fully equipped according to the GRIHA’ standards. It is designed to be a state of art structure added with energy-efficient green features.
The new and permanent campus of the IIM Sambalpur institute is specially designed with green features. It will use the maximum of renewable energy. Professor Jaiswal added that the building design will be a reflection of the art and heritage of Odisha. The tool which measures the performance of a building keeping in view the nationally accepted standards is named GRIHA.
IIT DELHI TAKES AN INITIATIVE TO HELP RURAL ENTREPRENEURS
He mentioned that the event will be graced by Union Petroleum and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Governor Ganesh Lal, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and other dignitaries.
Many dignitaries from the Centre, industry leaders, PSU executives, Odisha government, directors of IIMs, IITs, and IISERs will attend the virtual ceremony. Over 5000 invitees will grace the foundation ceremony of the permanent building of IIM Sambalpur.
Jaiswal added that the proposed campus will be built on 200 acres of land. The state government has provided the authorities with this land. A financial grant of Rs 401.97 crore and extended continued administrative support is offered by the union government.
IIT GUWAHATI MADE MATERIALS TO CONVERT AIR INTO WATER
Director said that the IIM Sambalpur will be the first of its kind to implement a flipped classroom. Under it, basic concepts will be taught through digital mode. Plus, experimental learning will take place through live projects from the industry. The vision of the National Education Policy will be the basis of IIM Sambalpur. The core vision is fixed at inclusiveness. He further mentioned that the inclusiveness will be in terms of outreach to farmers and weavers and others in terms of gender inclusivity.
He mentioned that in the MBA 2019-21 batch, women accounted for 49 percent and in the MBA batch 2020-22 batch, 43 percent of the students were women. By this IIM Sambalpur outscored the other IIMs in terms of gender diversity.
