On Monday, a new School of Education building was inaugurated virtually in Jamia Milia Islamia with the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank as their chief guest. Jamia Vice-Chancellor, Najma Akhtar, stated during her inauguration address, that the university is now working towards a strong focus on medical education.
She, while appealing to the ministry to consider funds to Jamia Milia Islamia to pursue this, said that within Jamia, there will be a medical center, a government medical college along with a hospital. For a long time, the need and lack of it have been felt. This has increased in the time of COVID, especially where Jamia is located since there are no medical colleges for a great distance and it neither has a good government hospital.
Najma also appealed to Ramesh Pokhriyal to release the complete funds for the School of Education. She said that out of the sanctioned Rs 9.5 crore, we have received only Rs 5.77 crore. They had to take a lot from overdraft because of this. They have been able to accomplish the project with Rs 6.42 crore but she appealed to the minister to consider recurring and non-recurring expenditure and release the remaining fund so that the center can be equipped with all that is required for modern education.
The Education Minister, while saying that the newly constructed building of the School of Education is the foundation of the New Education Policy, said that he sees all their universities and feels proud that they are not behind the world at all. They are at a peak in all the areas. The foundation of the nation is these universities.
