University Grants Commission

Along with the deadlines for several scholarships, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked universities across the country to encourage students to take advantage of the schemes.

In a letter, UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain instructed vice-chancellors of all universities to provide personal attention to SC and ST students by motivating them to correlate for 1A the scholarship.

Earlier, UGC invited applications for scholarships under four schemes for students – Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship for Single Girl Child (SGC), PG Scholarship for University Rank Holder Candidate (URH), Ishaan Uday Special Scheme, and PG Scholarship for North Zone (NER). Scholarship for vocational courses for SC / ST aspirants (PGSPROF).

The National Portal was first opened to receive applications in September 2020, which started in October last year. The deadline was subsequently extended twice, to November 30 and January 20, 2021, of the previous year.
