The University of Delhi has asked for short-term research proposals from its faculty members of departments and centres. Varsity officials said on Thursday that it is a step to expand the university research profile.

The university officials stated, “To strengthen the research profile, DU under the Institution of Eminence (IoB) scheme invites short-term research proposals of one-year duration. This has been asked from faculty members of University departments and centres for the academic year (2023-24).”

Further, it added that research proposals can come individually or in collaboration with other researchers as Co-PIs (up to one) from within or outside the university colleges.

DU has also decided the financial assistance that has to be given to researchers. As per officials, the maximum amount that researchers can get is Rs 5 Lakh (if the topic involves Experimental Sciences or Interdisciplinary and Applied Science). Whereas the maximum amount that a researcher can get is Rs 4 Lakh for Theoretical Science. 

Moreover, if research is done in Social Sciences, Interndisciplinary and Applied Social Sciences Management, then it will get 3 Lakh. Lastly, Rs 2 lakh will be given on topics related to Humanities and Law.

Eligible for Assistance 

DU has strictly marked the eligibility criteria for assisting with the submission of research proposals. Only the permanent faculty members who have a remaining service period of at least up to March 2024 at the university are eligible for assistance.
