Schools and colleges are closed due to the situation arising from Coronavirus but DU online classes are underway. Many times in these classrooms, other people are also getting involved in the classroom due to the DU online class links sent by the teachers. These people sometimes get threatened or sometimes abused. These cases have come to DU colleges not only with male teachers but also with female teachers. However, teachers are now raising their voices against this.
A teacher at DU’s College of Vocational Studies has lodged a police complaint about abusing and threatening in the online classes. Kumar Ramakrishna, a history teacher in the College of Vocational Studies, said that whenever he takes a class, before that, he puts the link of the online class in a group of students.
For a few days, he noticed that a student continues to play the song even after instructing to turn off the microphone in class. Even after repeated refusal, he was not agreeing. On Thursday, he wrote abuses in the DU online classes itself. Apart from this, his style of writing was also threatening. All the students of the online class were shocked by this. He tried to contact the cyber cell first. There was no complaint there, after which he dialed 100 number and complained about it. They think that after getting the link to the online class, an outsider comes to the class.
Many open house sessions have taken place since the application process started in DU. In one session, a student involved in an open house used abusive language, after which the officer of the admissions branch handling it had complained to the police.
FEMALE TEACHERS ARE ALSO FACING PROBLEMS IN DU ONLINE CLASSES
Manoj Kumar, a teacher of economics at Satyavati College, DU, says that the case of indecency or abusive writing has come up in many colleges in DU online classes. The same has happened with women teachers. In his class too, a student from outside the college domain comes in through another mail id and writes anything and goes through the message. The main reason for this is that not all students have the ID of the college domain. If it is, it does not work.
