Final year students of Mumbai University and other universities in Mumbai will have their exams in the first week of October. The administration will declare the results by the end of the month.

The committee of Vice-Chancellors will finalize the plan. After that, the schedule and modalities of conducting exams will be declared in two days. There are nearly 8 lakh students. The Mumbai University VC Suhas Pednekar is the head of the committee. The Higher and Technical Education Minister of Maharashtra Uday Samant said that Mumbai University VC is considering some options.

MUMBAI UNIVERSITY SOUGHT FOR EXTENSION OF DEADLINE

The Supreme Court directed the states to follow the University Grants Commission’s guidelines and conduct exams. That is why the state government formed a six-member panel that submitted their reports on Monday. The Technical Minister said that out of 13 universities in Mumbai, 11 universities including Mumbai University sought the extension of the deadline laid down by UGC and complete the examination process before October 31.

MUMBAI UNIVERSITY TO BEGIN ACADEMIC SESSION FROM THIS WEEK VIRTUALLY

Two universities namely Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik sought an extension of the deadline to November 10. Supreme Court has allowed states to ask for an extension of the deadline. So, the states will send the proposal to UGC for approval.

THE COMMITTEE ALONG WITH MUMBAI UNIVERSITY VC ARE CONSIDERING THREE OPTIONS

Uday Samant said that the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray will conduct a meeting with the state disaster manager. He will discuss the new exam schedule. He said that no student has to come to the exam centers or go out to appear for exams. The Minister said that they are considering three options i.e. online mode, open-book exam, and assignments. The Vice-Chancellors have to select one option.

STUDENTS OF MUMBAI UNIVERSITY AND OTHER UNIVERSITIES WILL NOT COME TO EXAM CENTERS

Students will not come to the center to take exams. The Minister said that the panel will have a meeting and by Wednesday they will be ready with the exam schedule. The exam paper will be of less marks so that it does not put any burden on students. After five months, final exams will take place after the Supreme Court ordered to do so.
