The Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University inaugurated the construction of a new building for students on campus. He did so by revealing the plaque for the building. Followed by breaking a coconut to mark the opening of the building. The building will expand seating arrangements for studies. It would also provide modern infrastructural facilities to students.

Yogesh Singh said that the expansion work is being done to meet the needs of the current number of students. It also aims to address the lack of building facilities. It will increase the infrastructural arena of Delhi University. Also, facilities of modern level will be available to Delhi University students.

The building is being constructed on an 8,04,100 square meter plot at an estimated cost of Rs 29.73 crore. It will have one block named “Pragyan Bhawan” with seven floors along with the ground floor. The total built-up area of the building will be 4,600 square meters, including the UGT pump room area.

What will the Delhi University New Building include?

The building will have a total of 17 rooms, including 9 classrooms and 8 tutorial rooms. It will also have two lifts, a VRV centralized air conditioning system, and a UPS system. Alongside the Installation of a solar panel system, and a gas-based fire suppression system.

The expectation of new building completion is about 24 months. It will be a valuable addition to the infrastructure of Delhi University.
