MapmyIndia and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have joined hands to come up with an indigenous alternative of google maps for mapping India. This announcement has left the desi folks in a frenzy. Consequently yet amusingly, it is raining memes trolling google maps on the social media platforms.
CEO of MapmyIndia Rohan Verma referred to it as a path-breaking milestone in the direction of the objective of Atmanirbhar Bharat. MapmyIndia’s user maps, apps, and services would “integrate with ISRO’s huge catalog of satellite imagery, and earth observation data, and would be a much better”, said CEO Rohan Verma. Taking to LinkedIn, Verma announced the venture stating:
“MapmyIndia, being a responsible, local Indian company, ensures that its maps reflect the true sovereignty of the country, depicting India’s borders as per the government of India, and hosts its maps in India.”
Verma further stated that while being more detailed and comprehensive, their solution will also be hyper-local and privacy-centric for the citizens in comparison to the foreign map apps adn solutions.
