JNU Assault Case: Restricts Outsider’s Entry from 10 pm to 6 am

On Tuesday, Jawaharlal Nehru University reported the molestation and abduction case of two women students. Following the JNU assault case, the decision has come up regarding imposing restrictions on outsiders. According to the circular, no outside vehicles will be allowed to enter from 10 pm to 6 am.

As per the police officers, two women were molested by four men on Tuesday night. They entered the JNU campus by car and even tried to kidnap those women. Moreover, four men also assaulted a male student.

After this incident, the varsity also instructed all residents to identify their guests at the campus gate in person or through calls. As the outsiders can enter the campus by just telling their name and the name of the person they meant to meet. And, four wheelers are given tokens before entering and when they exit they have to return them. But, now the university has decided to change the system to avoid such mishappenings.

Students organisation came forward and claimed that rules and regulations are overlooked most of the time. Also, they said security guard is not strict enough to identify them properly. However, police have identified one man named Abhishek and arrested him. 

On Wednesday, the university promised to take serious steps to improve the security of the campus and women’s safety. This JNU assault case has raised concern for students studying on campus. Further, the university condemned the incident and also stated that it will do everything to ensure strict punishment for men who did this crime. 

University said, “JNU administration has taken serious note of the incidents that happened on Tuesday night. And, also a police FIR process is lodged and we are coordinating with the police at every step. We will ensure that perpetrators will get the strictest punishment for the crime.”
