Earlier in the meeting of the Academic Council (AC), they included a section on the Hindutva ideology of VD Sawarkar in the BA political science syllabus. This section is put in the fifth semester. This meeting was held on 26 May 2023 in the Council Hall of Delhi University.

Therefore, Delhi University’s Executive Council held a meeting on 9 June 2023 to take decisions on some plans which they had opted for before. They added VD Sawarkar’s ideology in the fifth semester of the BA political science syllabus and also removed poet Muhammad Iqbal from the syllabus.

The Executive Council (EC) will conclude all decisions about the establishment of new courses and new syllabi. Further, Delhi University includes some new courses like Innovation and Startup Policy, five-year LLB courses, and the new Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).

Besides, they also added three new BTech programs: electronics and communication engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science engineering. The capacity of these new engineering courses will be 360. 

Some reputed personalities came in the support of Academic Council (AC)’s decision to include VD Sawarkar and remove Muhammad Iqbal from the syllabus. Around 123 government officials, including some retired high court judges, retired ambassadors, and former bureaucrats state the support of the Academic Council. And, they said “History of every country should be taught with genuine facts and treated without any bias”.
