The University of Delhi begins with the admission process for Masters of Commerce course at the end of May. The admission for the course is done either directly on basis of merit or through the entrance exam. The entrance exam for the postgraduate courses will be conducted in the second week of July 2018. The eligibility for the merit-based admission is assessed on the basis of the undergraduate degree. However, securing the requisite percentage does not guarantee admission to the course, as there is a limit to the number of seats. Last year, the entrance exam was conducted online.
The entrance test conducted by the University for M.Com will be of 200 marks. It will be a 3 hours exams consisting of 200 objective type questions. The paper will include five sections – Economics, Accounting, Business Standard and Mathematics, Business Organisation and Management and General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Each section contains 40 questions. The syllabus for the exam is same as that of B.Com (honours) for the convenience of the applicants.
The exam can be cracked easily with the right preparation and guidelines.
The primary and most important step is to be well acquainted with the syllabus of the exam. One must possess a proper understanding of the syllabus in order to ace the exam. Previous year exam papers available at Delhi School of Economics Photocopy shop are helpful in providing a glimpse into the type of questions asked. The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of all the topics included in all the different sections. The preparation must be done smartly, i.e, the candidate must be aware of personal weaknesses and strengths and prepare accordingly. There are a variety of references books available to help the candidate such as Pratiyogita Darpan, Arihant, R.Gupta. It is advisable to refer to the B.Com books and notes.
The candidate should not rely on guesswork for the paper as there is negative marking for the same. The exam is fairly easy and can be cracked with smart work and revision.
