Himachal Pradesh government is asking GST over education. Finding it inappropriate, SFI (Student Federation of India) has submitted a Memorandum to the Education Minister of HP Govind Thakur. Wherein it conveyed disapproval against the state government’s plan to levy 18 percent GST on education.
Demanding that the proposal should be rescinded, the SFI also challenged the government’s rush to enforce the New Education Policy (NEP) in the state and demanded its withdrawal.
The students’ body contended that the Centre was trying to centralize and privatize education through the policy. Besides, the SFI urged that a girls’ hostel should be built at Government College, Sanjauli.
