Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan set the foundation stone for the central campus of IIT Palakkad.

Talking on the occasion the Minister explained that IIT Palakkad had made immediate growth since inauguration in 2015. The institute has grown enormously in the past half a decade and is now home to 640 undergraduate 225 postgraduate and 132 doctoral pupils.

Additionally, the Education Minister asserted that the Education Funding Agency (HEFA) has been allotted Rs 2,200 crore in the 2020 budget.  Hence,  the authority could oversee and conduct research and education infrastructure in higher education institutes. This priority is also reflected in the recently inaugurated New Education Policy (NEP 2020).

Presently, IIT Palakkad offers BTech programs in four domains of Engineering — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science.

Additionally, the institute has also begun the Masters’ programs inclusive of MS (by Research), MTech, and MSc. The MS programs were expanded in 2017and the MTech and MSc programs were introduced in 2019.

B. TECH IN BIOMEDICAL ENGG LAUNCHED BY IIT-HYDERABAD

The MS programs are accessible in all four departments of Engineering.  While the MSc programs are given in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The Doctoral Programmes started in 2017 are available in all the eight disciplines of the institute.
