A new B. Tech program in Biomedical Engineering has been launched by IIT-Hyderabad. An IIT-Hyderabad statement has said that those students who choose this stream will be equipped with skills to develop 3D imagers and microscopes, design medical devices, crunch voluminous healthcare data, and simulate and predict the spread of pandemics.

Director of IIT-Hyderabad, BS Murty said that the program will offer an advanced module in biomedical product design, regulatory affairs, entrepreneurship, and clinical immersion.

The curriculum is designed around four verticals- bio-mechanics, bio-imaging and sensing, bio-intelligence, and bio-materials.

The curriculum rests on a single horizontal- core training in anatomy, physiology, mathematics, systems science, circuits, mathematics, mechanics, instrumentation, and algorithms. The institute has drawn from the master’s program in biomedical engineering and the depth of research and industry collaboration in designing the program.
