The National commission for Backward Classes, NCBC asked DU about the number of fellowships that the varsity provided to backward classes. It also asked the number of professors employed in the category. Moreover, NCBC asked that why this reservation is not provided in hostels.
The varsity has not filled OBC seats since 2007. There were many grievances related to Delhi University. So, the Chairman of NCBC Bhagwan Tal Sahni went to DU to hold a meeting. The Chairman held a meeting on 21st December with the members of the commission, DU Vice-Chancellor and other officials of the University Grants Commission.

DUSU AND DUTA STATEMENT IN THE MEETING
In the meeting, Delhi University Students Union, DUSU and DUTA representative raised the matter of backward classes. They were concerned about no reservation of backward classes in hostels and no offers of scholarships.

Students have to submit a certificate to proof their eligibility as a backward class. But, the varsity has not set any format of the certificate. The criteria of registration for OBC students in DU and economically weaker section, EWS is same. But, DUSU raised a question regarding this matter and asked about the difference in registration fees for OBC students in DU and Economically Weaker Section students.
HOW MANY PROFESSORS OF BACKWARD CLASSES ARE WORKING IN DU?
NCBC asked DU whether they are following all the rights given to OBC students. DU have to file an affidavit in which they have to state that the list that is made for appointments is according to the rules and there is no error in it. They also about the number of professors from backward classes working in the varsity.
DU HAVE TO FILE AN AFFIDAVIT WITHIN A WEEK
DU have to answer all the questions asked by NCBC and submit the affidavit within a week. On the other hand, Laxmibai College of DU have to present the amount of grant received from UGC and they also have to mention how the money is used. They have to prepare a report about how the varsity provides fellowships and on what basis. They have to submit the report to the commission.

Moreover, NCBC said that OBC students in hostels will get reservation. The varsity will divide teachers teaching from over 5 years in their respective reservations.
