The hopes of DU teachers and principals uplift yet again after welcoming the long-due appointment of a new vice-chancellor. On Wednesday, the teachers said that they expect Mr. Yogesh Singh to work with all stakeholders and bring growth and development. However, since Singh is already the VC of the Delhi Technological University (DTU), he will take some time in joining.

DU welcomes its new Vice-Chancellor after much delay:

The tenure of the current Delhi University Vice-Chancellor, Mr. P C Joshi had already ended in March 2021. But, he was given an extension until now. Thus, Mr. P C Joshi was given office as the Vice-Chancellor in October 2020. This happened after the education ministry suspended the previous VC, Yogesh Tyagi.

Yogesh Singh is going to be the first Delhi University VC with an engineering background. Also, he is taking over the position while the University will be celebrating its centenary next year.

Delhi University Teachers have high hopes from the new Vice-Chancellor:

The Delhi University Principals’ Association (DUPA) welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor. Also, Manoj Sinha, the principal of Aryabhatta College expressed that the new Vice-Chancellor has got vast experience and expertise. Hence, his knowledge will assist the University move in a positive direction.

Also, the president of the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA), Mr. Ray welcomed the VC and wished him a successful tenure. Also, he hopes that the vast and complex functioning of DU is handled smoothly and pro students and teachers.

Even the National Democratic Teachers Front (NDTF) welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor. Also, they expect educational reforms and the continuity of good work with promotions and regularisation.
