The Delhi University recently formed a panel of six members to look into a disaffiliation issue of the College of Art. The panel will look into the matter of disaffiliation of the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research(DIPSAR) from Delhi University.

Recently, there was a proposal to merge it with the Delhi government-run Ambedkar University Delhi(AUD). After that, the institute will be Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University(PSRU) under the Delhi government. However, a large section of the executive council is not in favor of the proposal. Hence, executive council decided to form a committee to look into the matter.

WHAT COMMITTEE WILL DO?

In March, Delhi`s Chief Minister-headed cabinet decided to merge College of Art(CoA) to AUD. DU committee will work on the process to carry out the disaffiliation of CoA.

But, the Dean of colleges, professor Balram Pani said that there has not been any process of disaffiliation of CoA carried out, earlier. The committee will decide whether disaffiliation will carry out or not. The executive council formed the committee after the meeting held last month. Moreover, the committee was notified on September 21.

WHAT DID DELHI UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS SAY?

The entire executive council was not happy with the conduct of the Delhi government. Professor Rajpal Singh Pawar Singh, a member of the committee. He said they questioned the University authorities over the issue of disaffiliation. Further added, we will try to stop the disaffiliation. The committee will draft a note of Delhi University’s reply to the Delhi government`s cabinet on the disaffiliation of the College of Art, he said.

He also mentioned that when University never allowed affiliation of the DIPSAR. Then we want to know when disaffiliation permission was granted and who gave that permission we, he said.
