The Ministry of Education has appointed professor Yogesh Singh, the ex-Vice Chancellor of DTU as the new DU Vice-Chancellor. Professor Yogesh Singh is considered close to the Rashtriya Shikshan Mandal, i.e. the RSS-backed teachers association. Also, the education ministry appointed professor Neelima Gupta as the VC of Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh. Thus, both these central universities got their new Vice-Chancellors appointed today.

The names of these new VCs were officially announced on PIB education’s Twitter page. Hence, the tweet said that the hon’ble visitor appointed the two new VCs.

More about Prof. Yogesh Singh, the new DU Vice-chancellor:

Mr. Singh was the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University in 2017. Also, he served as the director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology for a span of 4 years, i.e. from 2014 to 2017. He has also been appointed as the VC of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda from 2011 to 2014. Prof Yogesh Singh was also the dean of information technology at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University from 2001 to 2006. Thus, before getting appointed as the DU Vice-Chancellor he has worked at numerous places.

The academic life of the new DU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh:

He has completed his MTech and PhD from the National Institute of Technology, i.e. NIT Kurukshetra. Also, he is an alumnus of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IEIT). Singh is a member of both the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) and the Society of Technical Education (ISTE).

Hence, his main aim as the DU Vice-Chancellor would be the proper execution of plans under NEP 2020. Professor Singh said that it is a matter of pride to be appointed as the DU Vice-Chancellor. Hence, he would certainly take all the necessary steps for upliftment and growth here.
