The DU Teachers Association (DUTA) appealed to withdraw the termination of GN Saibaba. This request was made on Tuesday, 6th April 2021 to the Delhi University Vice-Chancellor P C Joshi. Hence, the association is trying to review and withdraw the termination of the assistant professor.
G N Saibaba was an assistant professor in English at Delhi University-affiliated Ram Lal Anand College. However, his service was terminated on March 31 after his arrest. He is currently serving a life term in Nagpur Central Prison for alleged Maoist links. Therefore, he was suspended from Delhi University after his arrest by the Maharashtra Police in 2014.

DU Teachers Association pleas for G N Saibaba:
The DU teachers association states that GN Saibaba’s appeal against his conviction is yet pending in the Bombay High Court. Hence, the case cannot be regarded as final until the hearing. Hence, the DU Teachers Association (DUTA) requests the varsity to refrain from taking any further action against him.
DUTA re-iterates that Dr. G N Saibaba’s appeal has been admitted and listed for hearing. Hence, the matter is sub judice and the original proceedings are yet continuing. Therefore, DUTA emphasizes the fact that this case is not regarded as final until all appellate remedies are exhausted.
DU Teachers Association considers the RLA’s decision inappropriate:
The DUTA considers Ram Lal Anand college’s decision to terminate G N Saibaba as inappropriate. Hence, they said that the termination came as a shock to them. Also, Vasantha’s reply to a show-cause notice served on 3rd September 2020 was not responded by RLA.
DUTA ORGANIZES “JAN SAMVAD” FOR CRISES IN DU COLLEGES
Vasantha had written to RLA college that due to lockdown, the visit to GN Saibaba was extremely restricted. Hence, no instruction regarding the show cause notice was taken from him. Hence, DUTA considers this adverse action of termination as arbitrary, and against the principles of justice.
