The University of Delhi ( DU ) has been asked by the Delhi High Court ( HC ) to provide a timeline for various events. It includes the declaration of results, holding convocation for the students annually, and also the issuance of mark sheets.

HC said that the DU will deliver a comprehensive affidavit which will mention the timeline added with the procedure regarding these issues. Every year uncertainty grips their students and they approach the court for obtaining their mark sheets, transcripts, and degree certificates. This will reduce the unnecessary confusion which occurs every semester. Justice M Prathiba Singh said it to make a streamlined procedure for various tasks and events.

DU has already filed an affidavit in the high court. But the court believes that it was unsatisfactory as the affidavit lacked specific timelines. It lacked a timeline for the issuance of digital degree certificates plus the transfer of data to the Digi locker. The Delhi High Court termed it as ‘quite cryptic’.

DU TO HOST A WEBINAR ON WORLD BRAILLE DAY 2021

A petition was filed by the doctors, former DU students to the Delhi High court. They were demanding an urgent issue of degree certificates. This is necessary for them to pursue higher education.

Then the HC asked the DU to make the timeline public after the last exam in a particular semester for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They are asked to make the declaration of results, mark sheets, etc., also online.

DU is also asked to make a timeline for the issuance of digital transcripts. Students need it for further education, employment, transfer of data to Digi locker, etc.

A date for the further hearing is decided upon 17th February 2021. The Delhi University has been asked to file the affidavit in a matter of six weeks.

DU SOL RECEIVED 30 % FEWER ADMISSIONS TO UG COURSES

DU has been asked previously to upload digital degree certificates for the students who have already graduated. Seven working days were provided by the high court for the same. The reason being students require the certificates for taking admission in universities or for employment.

It will ensure that a delay in the printing of degree certificates doesn’t come up as an excuse. It further eliminates the need for physical presence at the university premises.
The step was as a response to various petitions. It defines an online mechanism to issue degree certificates which is a necessity, especially in the ongoing pandemic situation.
