DU SOL witnessed a decrease from over 1 lakh admissions in undergraduate courses from previous years. The School of Open Learning of the University of Delhi closed its admissions on 31st December 2020. The last day counted the admissions to a decreased number of 99,100. There were 1.41 lakh admissions last year in the five undergraduate courses.

More than 1 lakh students take admission in the School of Open Learning each year. The SOL admissions started late due to the COVID -19 pandemic from the 9th of October, 2020. Previously, the last date of admissions into DU SOL was 30th November 2020.

But it got extended to 31st December after getting permission from the UGC. The portal was then reopened for one more month. The extension of one month introduced more than 48 thousand students to various courses. Like the ones who couldn’t get into the regular courses, usually take admission in the DU Sol.

DU SOL: OVER 2,000 ADMISSIONS WITH 90% OR ABOVE IN UG COURSES

The BA Program was the most popular with around 56 thousand students taking admission. This is the highest number of admissions in the DU SOL. In the BCom program, about 21 thousand students took admission, 7400 admissions in BCom Hons. Political science has made it to the fourth spot with 11500 students. The course with the least admissions was English Hons, about 3500 students.

Among the students who took admission in DU SOL, 2393 students scored above 90 % in class 12th. Out of it, 680 students got into BCom, 621 admissions to the BA course and in BCom Hons 621 students took admission. Other students include the ones who scored 60 % or above, about 68 thousand students fall under the category. The students with less than 60 % were 29,000.

SOL’s officiating Principal, Dr. Uma Shankar Pandey said that the number of admissions hasn’t increased significantly in the last 2-3 years. She added that the dates of admission can’t be extended further. The reason being the loss of studies and semester exams in March. Further video lectures and other study material is already posted on the website.
