Delhi University (DU) is all set to host a webinar on World Braille Day 2021, i.e. 4th January. Hence, the webinar will take place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on that day. This webinar is organized by the Department of Social Science of DU. The meeting link will be available on Delhi University’s official website.

An insight into the upcoming webinar on World Braille Day:

The main topic of discussion in the webinar will be – “Nothing About Us Without Us”. Dr. Sanjay Jain, principal of the ILS Law College, and Mr. Rajive Raturi, Special Monitor at National Human Rights Commission of India, will be the chief speakers. Hence, they are the distinguished speakers for the webinar on 4th January. The webinar mainly focuses on Reflections form policy discourse and legal framework for persons with disabilities in India.

Mr. Abhishek Thakur is the organizing secretary of the Department of Social Science’s webinar. Hence, he is in charge of all organizations for the eve. Mr. P.C. Behra will be moderating the webinar. However, the webinar committee consists of Dr. Meenu Anand, Dr. Malathi, Mr. NT Thomas, and Dr. Archana. This webinar committee was formed by the varsity for the World Braille Day webinar solely.

Hence, on the auspicious day of Worlds Braille Day, the problems of the Person with Disability (PWDs) will be highlighted. It is necessary for each one to have a role in making the world a better place for them. Therefore, this webinar is a very appreciable initiative by the Department of Social Science, DU.

Why is World Braille Day celebrated?

World Braille Day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, i.e. 4th January. Hence, the language Braille was invented by him. It is because of his efforts that the blind can also read and write now. Hence, to increase awareness amongst the mass, World Braille Day is celebrated.
