Delhi University is in the headlines this admission season due to its 100 % cutoffs. Hence, with 100 % cutoffs in 10 courses and many DU colleges, the dreams of many topper students were crushed. A Lucknow student explains that despite being the school topper, he got just 2 percent less than the perfect 100.
100 % cutoff made it tough to get into DU:
A huge number of meritorious students could not get a chance to study in their dream university due to such high cutoffs. The majority of the undergraduate courses in Delhi University were available above or at 99 percent in the 1st cutoff list. Also, due to a huge response in the admission process, most of the seats got full. Hence, students couldn’t get a chance to take admissions after the drop in cutoffs.
Many students also criticized the merit system followed by DU. Hence, they wanted some sort of entrance test to be conducted for fair evaluation and rightful admissions. Thus, not everyone was happy with the evaluation formula applied by the boards for results. Several students share that since they had high hopes of getting into DU, they didn’t apply to any other college. Thus, now, due to the 100 % cutoffs and unavailability of seats, they are out of options.
Here is what students say about DU’s 100 % cutoff:
Anuj Singh, a DU aspirant explains that he was extremely happy when he scored 98.2 percent. Also, he wanted to take admissions in BSc Computer Science from Hansraj College. But, due to a 100 % cutoff in this course, he was devoid of his chances.
MORE THAN 58,000 STUDENTS HAVE SECURED ADMISSION IN DU SO FAR
Another student named Deepti Sinha who scored 98.1 percent is not getting any chance to pursue BSc at Kirorimal College. Hence, with limited options, she is considering local colleges.
