The appointment of the Executive Registrar at Delhi University is not taking place yet. On Monday, Prof PC Jha was appointed as the Executive Registrar by the Vice-Chancellor who wrote a letter to the Principal of all colleges, Dean of College. In which, he justified his appointment citing the powers of the vice-chancellor contained in the DU Act 1922.

The letter stated that colleges should follow the order of Prof. PC Jha. This letter of Prof. PC Jha comes a day after the show-cause notice of Dr. Vikas Gupta, the Registrar appointed by the Executive Council of Delhi University. Dr. Vikas Gupta issued a show-cause notice on Saturday seeking clarification on the appointment dispute of Prof. PC Jha.

CHANCELLOR GOT THE SUPPORT OF DELHI UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR NOMINEE

The vice-chancellor has joined Delhi University Chancellor Nominee Pro Rajkumar Bhatia amidst the ongoing controversy over the appointment. Prof. Rajkumar Bhatia told the media that the Vice-Chancellor was ill, but after recovering, he took up his job. There is no rule that the Vice-Chancellor will have to give a certificate to join again after recovering from illness.

WHO WILL ENQUIRE AGAINST THE DU VICE-CHANCELLOR?

VC’s right remains pending even during illness. Prof. Bhatia said that the Ministry has unauthorizedly intervened in the entire episode. The role of ministry and intervention in the university varies. The Ministry can advise but not order.
