Delhi School of Journalism’ probably be going to start by Delhi University this year which is a five-year integrated degree. Admission process will be on cutoffs and forms will be out soon( Only consists of 30 seats for this year). Students have an option to get out of this integrated degree after 3 year.
With an undergraduate degree in Journalism. “Students will be taught discipline-specific and elective courses. There will be a paper on data and investigative journalism along with papers on media and psychology, media and history, editing, writing, and documentary making,” said Savita Datta, chairperson of the committee giving some idea on the new course.
Adding to this students have to study 2 compulsory languages, which will help them to report from different regions. “There will be four foreign language options –Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and French. There will be two regional languages as well –Tamil and Bengali. Students will have to learn one foreign and one regional language,” she said.
Savita Datta ( chairperson of the committee ) said students will learn to read, write and comprehend the language. “The aim is to equip the prospective journalist with basics of the language so that if she goes to cover the Middle East, for instance, she is able to communicate with people,” she said.
From next year the process might get change to get into this course. The initial plan was to admit students based on an entrance test but it is not feasible this year. “If the governing body of the school decides, then they can go for the entrance test next year,” she said. This year this course is offered by only 6 colleges at the undergraduate level–
