The covid-19 infection is taking thousands of lives daily making it worse for DU students to cope up with. Many of the DU students are witnessing covid-19 infections within their family and some have even lost their near and dear ones. Hence, all this negatively and grief is taking a toll on their mental state, making it hard for them to attend online classes. Therefore, they demand a suspension of classes for a minimum of two weeks.

Problems of DU Students amidst the pandemic:

Sashwat Pandey, a DU student lost his aunt to covid-19 and is witnessing his brother battling for life. However, amidst all the sorrows he has to extract time for assignment submissions. Therefore, continuing classes at such a time are ridiculous and inhumane. Also, several teachers and their families are tested positive which results in last-minute class cancellation. Students too are getting infected in large numbers but have also to deal with exam pressure and assignment deadlines. Hence, no student or teacher can work amidst such a crisis and end number of death news.

Sashwat Pandey along with other first-year DU students is petitioning the colleges to suspend academic activities and online classes. Hence, amidst the unprecedented covid surge, this the best that could be done.

Colleges react to the petition of DU students:

LSR students are discussing to boycotting online classes. Hence, they say the stress of attending classes to keep up with the academic rigor has made the environment highly unproductive. Also, due to the humongous number of infections within the varsity, classes often get canceled.

DU ISSUES GUIDELINES FOR HOSTEL RESIDENTS TO STAY SAFE FROM COVID-19

The Delhi University Teachers Association reported that roughly 600 DU teachers are tested covid positive. Hence, they cant continue with online classes. Balaram Pani, the dean of colleges asked the respective college principals to seek a temporary suspension of online classes. So, the principals can analyze the availability of teachers, and other factors before deciding. Also, the assignment deadline can be deferred for the student’s convenience.
