DUTA elections

The college of Arts, Delhi University is being merged with Ambedkar University. However, the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) is strongly condemning the government’s decision. Hence, they are strongly against this move of the Delhi Government.

The Delhi Government cabinet has approved this merger. Hence, they want the Delhi University affiliated college of arts to function under Ambedkar University.

Why does DUTA condemn this merge?

The Delhi University Teachers’ Union (DUTA) considers this as a violation of Delhi University’s statutory provisions. Hence, this act of the Delhi Government is considered as yet another violation. Rajab Ray, the president of DUTA says, “ This reveals the attitude of Delhi Government in solving issues of funded colleges.” Hence, he highlights how the government is unable to tackle issues related to college fundings.

The actual reason highlighted by DUTA:

As per DUTA, 12 of the Delhi University colleges get directly funded by Delhi Government. Hence, all the teachers, staff, students, and administration are looked after by them. However, these 12 colleges are suffering a lot.

These colleges don’t get any financial aid from the government on time. Hence, the delay leads to untimely payments to staff and faculty. All this is adversely affecting the educational, financial, and administrative functioning. The employees are rendered penniless for months all because of the government’s issues.

Hence, DUTA stands against the Delhi government’s decision. They even warn against any harassment of these institutions and their faculty. The association is highlighting the government’s problem and wants them to take back their decision.

DELHI UNIVERSITY AFFILIATED COLLEGE OF ART TO BE MERGED WITH AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY

DU affiliated colleges have been linked to other colleges before also. Hence, it is not the first time that the Delhi government is doing such a thing. In the year 2009, the Delhi College of Engineering was also shifted. Hence, now it is known as the Delhi Technological University.
