Due to COVID-19, All the educational institutions are temporarily shut down. The educational institutions started taking online classes of students so that they don’t have to compromise with their studies. But, is it really possible for each and every student in our country to take online classes? Do we have enough resources? Educational institutions took this initiative for the betterment of students, there are many problems that students face during online classes. So, some of the problems that every Delhi University student face are:

1. INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

Students of Delhi University come from different states of India. Some students live to belong to those villages and districts where the internet connectivity is really poor. Due to poor internet connection, students are not able to attend their online classes. This causes a huge loss in their studies.

There are many students who belong to a lower-class family and cannot afford electronic gadgets to attend online classes. In some cases, students generally have a sibling and there is only one phone at home and no computer. Due to timing clashes on classes, students compromise and couldn’t take up their classes. Also, it is not possible for everyone to avail of all the facilities for students. There are many cases in which students belong to a lower background family and cannot afford a phone or any other gadgets in a short period of time.

Due to COVID-19, the nation was under lockdown. That’s why online classes were started for students. But there are many other problems faced by students that are causing a major effect on their mental health. It is difficult for students to get habitual of these new criteria and techniques. So, there are suffering. Not only physically but mentally.

During online classes, students have continuous classes scheduled from morning till evening. There is much other work that DU students do along with their studies like internships or society tasks. But, due to the regular schedule, it is getting really difficult for them to cope up with time. They are not able to manage their time in an accurate manner. Moreover, continuous classes are letting them not to.

5. HUGE EFFECT ON EYES DUE TO ONLINE CLASSES

Due to continuous online classes, DU students have to sit and focus on the phones and other electronic gadgets for hours. This is not good enough for their eyesight. Many student’s eyesight has got weaken due to online classes as the reflection of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets continuously for hours is not good for their eyes. It is harming their eyesight.

6. PHYSICAL HARM TO THE BODY

During online classes, students have to sit for hours in the same position. They are either lying down or sitting like a lazy kid. This pandemic has made them lazy too. That is why their body is not actively responding and they are facing many physical issues of the body. There is no alternative left to cope up with this problem, but yes, students can do regular expertise so that online classes do not put a major effect on their physical fitness.

7. NO PRACTICAL LAB CLASSES

There are many DU students who are from the science stream. As they have to deal with many experiments in the lab, it is really difficult for them to understand the concept without laboratory practice. During the normal situation, students always do the experiments on their own with the help of a teacher and that helped them to understand the concept in Depth. But, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of universities and other educational institutions. That is why it is not possible for students to come for lab practice. Moreover, commerce students have a computer as a subject and it is getting difficult for them too to understand the concept. Some students can practice at home but there are many DU students who don’t have a computer or laptop. Practical classes were the only option left with them to learn the topics. They have to miss their computer lab, practical classes, due to the pandemic.

8. VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

Delhi University grants admission to Visually Impaired students also. So, many visually impaired DU students are facing problem to attend online classes. They cannot look into the screen for so long. Many blind students use brail books to study and online notes are not beneficial for them.

9. ADOPTING NEW TECHNOLOGY

COVID-19 led to the start of a new phase of education. Educational Institutions decided to provide online classes to the students so that they can study without any problem. But, the idea of online classes is new to parents, students as well as teachers. Students are adopting this new technology and giving their best to understand the methodology. But they require time to understand it and implement it in their daily life. This new methodology changed their way to study. So, it is difficult for the students to adopt something new in such a short interval of time.

10. DISTRACTION DURING ONLINE CLASSES

Studying online is not as easy and comfortable as in offline classes. First of all, at home, it is not easy to concentrate like sitting in class and studying. There are many unnecessary noises. Secondly, sometimes either teacher is not audible or we. Due to internet connection, this problem is faced both by teachers and students. Sometimes, students or teachers automatically get out of the meeting. In the starting, students used to make irrelevant voices and disturb the whole class. Students need a proper atmosphere to study. Even if they are trying to study at home ignoring everything, they will never get a classroom atmosphere.

So, there were some of the problems that every DU student faces during online classes. Not only Delhi University students but other students are also facing the same. But this pandemic taught a modern way for students to study. Students are not dealing with their problems and finding a solution to the same. These problems will always teach them to do better in their lives. Education must go on with time.
