NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed universities and colleges to interact with students to figure as interns on ongoing projects. A notice released by UGC on Monday directs universities to permit students to require up online internships/ activities including the activities which will be administered digitally or otherwise from home.
The official notification during this regard reads “The said guidelines also provide a framework for internship etc. However, keeping in sight the present situation of lockdown across the country thanks to COVID- 1 9, the universities/ colleges can also take the subsequent measures for internship and other related activities:
- Allow the scholars to require up ‘online internships/ activities’ including the activities that
can be administered digitally or otherwise from home.
- Engage them to figure as interns on ongoing projects.
- Delay the start date for the internship.
- Reduce the amount of internship clubbing with assignments etc.”
UGC has made clear that the rules are advisory and therefore the Universities may accordingly plan their activities keeping in sight the security and interest of our stakeholders, giving the very best priority to the health of all concerned, while adopting and implementing the rules.
UGC released the tutorial calendar on April 29, 2020. According to the tutorial calendar, the new school term for old students will commence from Lammas while for the new students it’ll be September 1, 2020.
