Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, has initiated an online learning portal, periyaedu.in, to offer UG and PG degree programs in several domains. The university said this as a drive to expand its offerings in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).
The University will provide MSc in Mathematics, MBA, MA with specializations in History and English, B.Com, BA in English, and M.Com through the portal. Students will be eligible to take online, remotely proctored examinations.
The university said these high-quality online degrees shall encourage students to learn from the tremendous faculty of Periyar University online. The students will also have the chance to appear for the remotely proctored examinations. The learning shall be a blend of Live learning enhanced with the finest quality course content, practice tests, study guides, gamified modules, discussion forums, and recorded tutorials.

Talking on the occasion, Prof P Kolandaivel, Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University, said “The New National Education Policy 2020 (NEP2020) initiated the launch of Online Degrees by the Top 100 Universities of India. As a responsive, premier and progressive institution pointed on driving high-quality higher education for all, they are pleased to declare the launch of Online UG and PG programs via our e-learning platform periyaredu.in.
The university aims to enhance the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education with the launch of the portal, which presently stands at 27.4 %.
