OBE of DU

On Saturday, the first day of the new cycle of OBE of DU was kicked with some glitches for some groups of students.

The exams are being conducted this time for students who have attended this semester completely online after DU conducted its first fully online OBE for final year students in August with several glitches along the way. After August 10, the teaching-learning commenced in the online mode.

Students had received their question papers both through email and on the university’s exam portal, the last time the exam was conducted.

They were permitted either to upload them to the exam portal ever for submissions or send them through email. In an attempt to streamline the exam process, this time students were to only use the university portal. When some questions did not receive their questions on the portal on Sunday, however, this was disrupted.

A second-year student of BA (Hons) Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication at Bhim Rao Ambedkar College said that they had their radio production paper scheduled for 9.30 am in the OBE of DU and they logged on to the portal to find the statement- there is no exam scheduled for this date on it. They waited for 30 minutes and received nothing. Then they directly called our college administration and they sent them their question paper on WhatsApp at 10.13 am. There was still no update on the portal when it was time for them to submit the paper so they could not submit the paper there. They mailed their answer sheets to the college in the end.

Ashutosh Kumar who was the nodal officer for the exam at the Center for Vocational Studies for the OBE of DU said that a set of students in his college also faced a similar problem. He said that students from six different vocational programs had a common paper today but students of only one program received the question paper. He has received around 200 calls from panicked students and parents. They arranged for students who had received the common question paper to share it with the others on WhatsApp since time was passing by and the portal was not being updated. Around 500 students emailed their answer sheets to them since the submission option on the portal also did not appear for those who did not get their question paper.

DS Rawat Dean (Examinations) said that the exam went smoothly despite these issues.

He said that there were some issues with a few papers because exams with new unique paper codes and old unique paper codes were happening simultaneously. The students were given the required extra time and the issues were sorted.
