As per the data, less than 200 students across the country have landed an international placement or overseas job.
International Placement and Compensation Package
At IIT Bombay, students managed to take 58 international placements compared to 159 last year. However, the International annual compensation at IIT Bombay placement has also reduced compared to the years 2019 and 2020. IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Roorkee have also seen a substantial drop in the overseas job offer compared to last year. The highest annual compensation package at IIT Roorkee placement had been reduced to Rs. 69.05 lakh per annum from Rs. 153 lakh per annum. Also, IIT Gandhinagar stands at nil international placements since the pandemic began in 2020.
As per the TimesNow Report, IIT Bombay’s placement officer told the sources that placements were challenging during the time of the pandemic. Running the entire process online with students located at a different location was not easy. A similar number of companies had participated in the placement drive as compared to last year, with a few new firms joining the league. However, the overall statistics of recruitment may be poorer this year.
COVID 19 blues made placements one of the most challenging tasks. However, IIT Placement 2020-21 has been completed successfully with an average outcome. BV Ravi Shankar, training and placement officer told the media, “We are striving to minimize the negative impact on-campus recruitment process due to the pandemic situation.”
