According to the current updates, ICAI has terminated the pending CA exam that was earlier scheduled to be held in May due to the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.
To finalize the decision, ICAI published an official notification on its website late last night in which it said that the CA May 2020 Exam has been canceled and that all benefits of the current attempt will be carried ahead for the students to the November 2020 attempt. This also involves fee paid and exemptions graded for CA May 2020 attempt. ICAI has also announced that the May 2020 Exams will now be incorporated with the November 2020 attempt to ensure the safety of the students.

Important announcements by ICAI
1) The aspirants are aware th vide announcement dated 15th June 2020, the Institute, after considering the academic interests and health precautions of students intending to appear in May 2020 Examinations, had enabled them to change center cor appearance in May/ July 2020 Examination and/or to decide, at their free will to Opt-Out” of the May/ July 2020 Examinations with a carryover of all benefits in the leading fee paid and also stated that Institute will review the problem of pandemic (COVID cases, MHA guidelines, Centre and State Government direction ns) in the first week of July 2020 and the conduct of examinations commencing from 29th July 2020 strictly adhere to the prevailing Government’s advisories for the area in which a particular Centre is arranged and, in any eventuality, the students were to be adjusted to November 2020 Examination cycle.
2)Further Announcement dated 17th June 2020 provided for FAQ’s relating to conduct of May/ July 2020 Examinations, chanter center and operation and procedures of Opt-Othe to address the queries raised by the students. Announcements dated 20th June 2020 and 26th June 2020 extended the availability of facility-out opt-out” to allow the candidates to make their decision which facility is available to the students even as on date.

ICAI declared its decision to cancel the pending examination after clarifying its side in the Supreme Court in an on-going hearing about the ‘opt-out’ option. Earlier, the institute had notified the apex court that it will gauge the feasibility of holding the CA exams 2020 scheduled in July/August with the surging number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The institute also informed the court that it will consult with various states and examination centers on the issue. As per the earlier schedule, ICAI CA Exams 2020 was scheduled to take place between 29th July 2020 and 16th August 2020.
