Delhi University on Friday I.e., 7th August 2020 issued a notice stating that visually impaired students who wish to appear for the DU offline examination at a later date can avail for the facility of study material and textbooks by requesting for the same.

The University of Delhi will conduct offline exams for those students who due to any reason fail to appear for online exams. The second phase of DU exams will be conducted when the coronavirus situation gets stable. The first phase of online OBE is going to begin on 10th August.

The University in its notification stated: “In compliance with the order of Delhi high court, the visually impaired students who wish to appear physically for the offline examinations to be conducted later by the University for the final semester/term/year students in all Undergraduate and Post Graduate examinations for the academic sessions 2019-20 are informed that they can avail the facility of prescribed textbooks/ study material on making a request for the same to the Dean(Examinations) through an e-mail at dean_exam@du.ac.in .”

The students who wish to avail of the facility of study material are required to send a request to the Dean of examination of DU through email. The students are required to furnish various details in the mail to get the benefit of the facility.

DU’S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE SCRIBES TO VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS: HC

Following details are to be sent in the email:

  1. Name of the student
  2. Name of the college of the students
  3. Name of the course
  4. Contact Number of the student
  5. Examination Roll Number
  6. Specific title(s) of textbooks/reading material prescribed in the course
  7. Specific Title(s) of paper/papers in which the requested textbooks/reading material are prescribed
  8.  Details of any textbooks/reading material received in respect of that particular paper/papers pertaining to which the above request is being made.

The students who wish to seek benefits from the facility are required to send the mail requesting the prescribed books/study materials. Those students who want to send the request can do so latest by Friday, 14th August 2020. DU will not entertain any request made after August 14. The Univerity will conduct the offline exams once the situation gets stable.
