DU Colleges are reopened for final year students from September 15. Final year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses can now attend their laboratory and practical classes. On the first day, the colleges observed less attendance. Many students live out of Delhi and have not returned yet. So, a lesser number of students attended laboratory classes.
Ramjas College has 1000 students in the science stream in the final year. Out of which, only 20 to 25 students reached the college. However, only 7 attended the class. Manoj Khanna is the Principal of one of the best DU Colleges, Ramjas College. About DU reopen he said that the attendance record is severely short. It is because students are analyzing if their classmates are returning to the campus. The principal hopes to see a higher strength after Diwali.
10 PERCENT OF STUDENTS ARRIVE AT DU COLLEGES
Abha Dev Habib is a Physics teacher at DU College, Miranda House. She said that out of 80 students, 10 percent students attended class on the first day. Students were happy to return because they finally got a chance to do their practical classes in Lab.
Many parents want that students must complete their vaccination cycle first. If the varsity announced offline exams, there are some sort of chances that students may attend classes. Because of PG entrance exams, students are not at all serious about their current semester exams.
Moreover, students have the option to choose between online and offline exams. So, they would definitely prefer online exams. The Principal of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College said that it is possible that parents may send their children after the mid-semester break. Out of 500 colleges on 20 students attended the class.
DU college principal said that they have 11 lab-based courses. Moreover, two days are given to each lab course. Some colleges are not calling students. However, some students are themselves not coming.
