This year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Delhi University has decided not to grant admission under the ECA category. Admission under NCC, NSS, and Sports would be on the basis of certificates.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the educational institutions are closed. As education must go on and the varsity must go ahead towards the new academic session, the DU admission procedure has begun. It is important to maintain social distancing in this pandemic. That is why Delhi University has decided to carry on the DU admission procedure online. This year’s verification of documents is also done online.

NCC, NSS AND SPORTS STUDENTS WILL GET ADMISSION ON THE BASIS OF CERTIFICATE

There are many categories and quotas under which aspirants get DU admission. Till last year, students got admission in Delhi University under sports quota and other extracurricular activities. This year, in order to follow the norms and protocols of social distancing, Delhi University has decided not to take DU admission under ECA category. This year it is not safe for the varsity and students to conduct ECA trials for DU admission. Students under NCC and NSS will get DU admission on the basis of certificates. The reason behind the cancellation of ECA under DU admission is COVID-19 and the need to maintain social distancing. In view of this decision, professors have written to the President over the cancellation of DU admission under ECA trials.

DU ADMISSION: STUDENTS FEEL AMENDMENTS IN DU’S ECA QUOTA ARE UNFAIR

ECA QUOTA IS NOT ACCEPTED FOR DU ADMISSION THIS YEAR

Danseuses Sonal Mansingh and Geeta Chandran have upheld a letter written by the Delhi University professors. They have written about the ECA category not allowed in DU admission due to the coronavirus pandemic. President Ram Nath Kovind often visits the varsity. The professors have written that last year, the number of disciplines under the ECA category was expanded to 12, apart from NCC, NSS, and Sports. But this year, due to COVID-19, the constituency of arts is already stuck with some stress. They have ultimately decided not to open ECA quota to arts and sports.

ECA TRIALS IS POSSIBLE BY FOLLOWING SOME PRECAUTIONS OF COVID-19

According to the professors, trials can be taken this year for DU admission by following social

distancing and COVID-19 precautions. The usage of sanitizers and wearing of marks is possible. Entry can be restricted for the students coming for trials. The proper distance can be maintained between artiste and judges. Now, this letter has been endorsed by Sonal Mansingh and Geeta Chandran to the president.
