Students from Delhi University wrote three new raps and left their peers spellbound while we were still vibing to Apna Time Aayega from Gully Boy. The new rap stars of Delhi University have added swag to student life on campus with raps about the OBE exam and how offline campus mein pawri hori hai. A fresher of Hansraj College, Vishal Singh Rathor, was quick to point out that rap is basically a short form of rhythm and poetry. He said that he started rapping when he lost his nanaji two years ago. He got his talent from that pain.
Meme Jaake Dekh is a rap written by Rathor on student life. Rathor has hit it off with his college buddies with lines like ‘notice aaya OBE exam hai apne, ye main, mera rap, meri pawri hori hay’.
Rathor shared that everyone finds rap relatable because of its livid content and as it has now become a fad with youngsters. He shared that he was a bit scared about exams that is why he thought of making a rap on a funny topic which everyone could enjoy. To amp up the #DUrapculture, Rathor has big [plans. He said that since Hansraj College did not have a rapping society, his first dream was to create a rapping society as a legit college society.
Amal Pal from Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College is another emerging Rockstar of the campus. He said that his dream was that rap culture should grow not only in the Delhi University campus but also in the whole country. He wants to make a small contribution to the hip-hop culture and he thinks that he is making his contribution since students go up to him and appreciate his raps. He is glad to be one of the first ones to hit it off in the emerging Rap culture of the campus.
Many students in Delhi University have been influenced by this rap culture and it is slowly emerging as a burning trend. He said that they don’t want musicians to perform at their fests. They want rappers like Divine to come and rock the campus because they speak the truth.
