Delhi schools reopening for classes 9th and 12th will be initiated from tomorrow, i.e. 5th February 2021. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi, announced this in a press conference. However, Classes 10th and 12th have already started with their physical classes from 18th January 2021.
Hence, in this 2nd phase of Delhi Schools reopening, classes 9th and 11th are considered. Resumption of physical classes is necessary as students need access to libraries, laboratories, and other facilities. Hence, classes 10th and 12th have also been allowed as they appear for their practical exams. Also, the students have to prepare for the upcoming Board Examinations which will be held via physical mode.
Deputy CM, Mr. Sisodia also says that the government will also be opening colleges offering degree and diploma courses.
Is attendance mandatory after Delhi schools reopening?
Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi, clearly mentioned in a press conference that student attendance is not mandatory. However, the records of the students coming to school will be kept for safety purposes. Deputy Chief Minister says that it is not possible to call all the students at one time. Hence, only those who have prior permission from their parents will be allowed to return.
Mr. Sisodia considers Delhi Schools reopening as a necessity now:
The losses inflicted by the covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has been too immense to compensate. Hence, the Delhi schools reopening aims to resume classes and prepare students for their practical exams and internals in a better way.
With the upcoming Board Exams 2021, Classes 10th and 12th are a matter of concern. Hence, it is important to guide and counsel them. Also, tentative dates for the exams and projects of Classes 9th and 11th will be released soon. Hence, students need to deck up and resume studying.
