On Monday, 18 May 2020, twenty-eight journalists from Zee News Media House were tested positive for Covid-19.

The Coronavirus pandemic has now captured the Zee News Media house. Till now twenty-eight media persons have been found infected from Coronavirus infection and a newsroom of the Zee News Media House has been sealed.

As per the officials, out of the twenty-eight infected employees, a few are the residents of Gautam Budh Nagar destruct while the other resides in the area of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad.

According to the Zee News House on 15th May only one employee was tested positive for Covid-19. After this, the Zee News House started testing all the other employees working in the office, who by chance came in contact with the deceased in the past few days.

Later on, after examining the employees, the reports claimed twenty-seven other employees were also found infected.

Reports came out negative for most of the employees working in the Zee News office. As per the officials of Zee News, the proportion of more number of negative cases was because of the early measures taken to diagnose all the employees of the office.

The Zee News network asserted that all the necessary steps have been taken as per the guideline and protocols and the office along with the newsrooms and studios has been sealed for sanitation purposes. The entire Zee News team has been shifted to a new set up for the time being. 

The Zee News organization has around 2500 employees working under the network and is certainly the largest number of employees in the private sector. The heads added that they are committed to the safety and security of each and every employee working for their network.

The news house asserted that it will continue testing its employees and will take all the necessary measures to safeguard its employees. It further included that spread of disease may infect other employees leading to an increase in the number of decreased.

A head person if the organization asserted that all the employees working for the Zee News network had an option to sit back at their homes and do their tasks from home itself. But the employees decided to work in the office because they are dedicated and committed to their works. To protect the employees and restraint the spreading of disease, the organization has asked the employees to stay isolated.

 

In the past few months, a number of newsagents have been tested positive for Covid-19. Around 26 employees working for a Tamil News Channel were tested positive for Covid-19 on April 21. Following the series,  170 journalists from Mumbai were tested for the Coronavirus out of which 50 employees were found infected from Covid-19.

Recently on 7 May 2020,  a journalist from Agra, working for a newspaper agency died due to Coronavirus infection. States including Delhi, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh have started testing the journalists working in the state.

Recently, the health department after testing the employees working in OPPO found nine Covid-19 cases from the OPPO Mobile India’s Factory in Ecotech 7, Kasna, Greater Noida. Out of the nine deceased employees, eight are the residents of GB Nagar while one resides in Faridabad.
