The calendar for the current session is reviewed again by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for engineering courses. The new academic session of 2020-21 will commence from the 1st December 2020. The recent update from the Council said. The last date is extended to November 30th, 2020 for the students who want to pursue engineering.
The previous academic calendar made October 30 as the last date of admission to the engineering colleges.
After consistent requests from the state governments and the persistent coronavirus situation made the council extend the deadline. The last date for admission into undergraduate and Diploma courses in the engineering field is now November 30 of this year. The ongoing admission process of the IIT’s and NIT’s added the reasons for the extension.
Previously, the new batch was set to start from September 15th, 2020. For the existing students’ batches of engineering, architecture, pharmacy, and other courses where to begin from August 16th, 2020.
This year students lost a lot of academic time. To cover the loss the University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a notification to guide the colleges to teach six days a week. Moreover, the winter break will be shortened and next year summer break will also be cut-short.
The official statement by the UGC said that the academic session of 2020-21 and 2020-22 will abide by the six-day teaching pattern. All the universities have to follow it to reimburse the loss of academic time.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has also released another guideline for the same. The colleges are asked to give the students admission on a provisional basis. In some cases, the result of the undergraduate courses is still not declared. The lockdown situation had caused the delay.
The students enrolled in engineering courses are required to submit the documents by December 31st, 2020. The successful completion certificate needs to be submitted to the authorities before the deadline. Then only will the students grant proper admission to the engineering colleges.
Before this, the AICTC has guided the universities to not increase the fees of the students for the academic session 2020-21. Moreover, it also directed the institutes to pay the salaries to the faculty members.
