Considered as one of the highest educational accomplishments in any field, a Ph.D. degree gives you the full right to be cited as a doctor. Postgraduate students, who want to attain in-depth knowledge in any course, can opt for a Ph.D. degree.

With this, they can obtain research, academic managerial, clinical, and administrative roles in their particular field of study. Generally, Ph.D. is five years long and requires intense research.

To encourage students to pursue higher-level research and analysis in their respective areas of interest, many universities, and government grant Ph.D. scholarships. This scholarship assists them in their grants and this.

Below is the list of various Ph.D. scholarships in India.

 

  • Jawaharlal Lal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship 

 

The student needs to have at least 60% marks in graduation and post-graduation levels.  Students also need to have their names in the Ph.D. course, enrolled in a recognized Indian Institution. The students are required to be less than 35 years of age.

Reward: Maintenance paymInstitution8000 worth.  Contingency allowance of worth Rs.15000.

Application form: Between December and May.

  • Physical Research Laboratory Junior Research Fellowship 

This association is available for students pertaining to for a Ph.D. degree at Physical Research Laboratory in areas like astronomy, astrophysics, space & atmospheric sciences, solar physics, optical physics, atomic & molecular physics, theoretical physics, astrochemistry, planetary sciences, and geoscience.

The students are asked to finish their pre and post-graduation in Science and Engineering with 60% marks.

CSIR-UGC, NET-JRF, GATE, or Joint Entrance Screening Test is mandatory for the students to pass and should be below 28 years.

Reward: up to Rs.35000 and more.

Application entry: Amid April and May ( tentative) 

  • Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships

This scholarship is especially for Indian Students who are pursuing a Ph.D. degree from recognized Indian university.

It is granted to the students who have done relevant research in their particular field mainly related to resource identification in India and the USA and it has about eight to nine months’ duration.

Rewards: Monthly stipend, monthly aid, round-trip air travel, and other advantages 

Application timeline: Between March and June (tentative)

  • UGC NET Junior Research Fellowship 

Table of Contents

It is held two times in a year, UGC NET is a national level test to check eligibility for students pursuing a Ph.D. from India. The qualifying students will get an offer to get a fellowship for their research work.  The students need to pass their post-graduation with 55% or more marks and are required to be less than 30 years.

Reward: 25000 per annum and 14000 contingency amount. 

Application timeline: Between March and April (for June entry) and between September and October (for December entry)

  • Google Ph.D. Fellowship India Program 

This fellowship provides the opportunity to communicate with Google Research mentor and complete their degree.

This is practically designed for Computers and similar Ph.D. students. The students can also get the probability for an internship in Google after qualifying interviews.

Reward: $50000 for a duration of four years.

 Application timeline: Between March and April (tentative)

  • ICHR Junior Research Fellowships (JRF)

It is particularly meant for Ph.D. students in the field related to History. The students are chosen on the basis of the online entrance test and presentation cum interview.

Rewards: Rs 17,600 each month and a contingency amount of Rs 16,500 per annum for 2 years

Application timeline: Between November and December (tentative).
