A memorandum of suggestions was submitted to Prime Minister Students’ group Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) by suggesting reforms in Education in the view of the COVID-19 pandemic last Tuesday.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) pointed the incorporation of a framework which will respond to situations like COVID-19 in National Education Policy in the coming future. The ABVP student’s union put forth various modes for conduction of examinations and also for the formulation of inter-university transfer guidelines if such similar pandemics occur ever in the future.

ABVP also suggested age and attempt related relaxations for aspirants preparing for some competitive examinations. The students’s union also included insurance-related policy for students, promoting distance learning. They suggested establishing more academic and career-related counseling centers for students and others.

The union also called for the varsities to release new academic calendars, which will include holding practical examinations only after the theoretical examinations. Online submissions of research and doctoral thesis should also be included and, foregoing the demand for fees altogether for students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.

ABVP suggested that universities and colleges should give concessions in respect of hostel and mess fees and Periodic sanitization of hostels.

Increasing the scholarship and doctoral fellowship amount in the upcoming academic year, were also among several other suggestions.
