Anil baijal, the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi hold meeting with the vice-chancellors of universities and the director of IIT Delhi to ask them about their preparedness for online learning, pending examinations, internships, placements and admissions for the upcoming session. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the nation is facing lockdown for many days. But as the education system for the universities cannot be ceased, they are conducting online lectures so that students do not have to compromise on their studies. 

What is the present condition of the universities? There are examinations left to be conducted for the students and as the college offers many opportunities for internship and final year students for the campus placement opportunities, the University has to be concerned about all the prominent issues. On account of this situation, the lieutenant governor conducted a meeting with the universities so that he could get to know the present conditions. 

Conduct of examinations and admission procedure: As the education institutions are being closed since March due to the coronavirus outbreak, Mr. Anil Baijal has asked the universities to make the best use of technology and provide efficient online classes and all the important information which need and also start regulating their admission procedure and conduct examinations of the students using the internet.

Those university’s VC who were present for the meeting:  Those universities whose vice-chancellors were present during the meeting are Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, Delhi Technological University, Ambedkar University, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University along with the director of IIT Delhi. 

Continuation of all important procedures with much safety:  this time, as the students are at their respective homes, the governor has suggested the vice-chancellors to continue their examination procedure and also start their admission procedure for new students. The vice-chancellors also have to take care of the online classes and notes so that students do not have to face any problem regarding their studies. Different educational activities and seminars are conducted by the college online.

Final year students wait for the placement drive every year so that they could get the best opportunities for placement. So the governor is expecting from the universities to disclose the placement drive for the final year students. He requested them to carry out all the activities with care so that students do not have to face any problems and the safety of students and faculty members must. Other staff members also should not be hampered. 

Statement of the Vice-Chancellors: According to the statement being released by the lieutenant governor’s office, the governor has asked the vice-chancellors to bring out their plan for the next academic year. Thereupon, in the meeting, the vice-chancellor and the director informed the governor about the present curriculum status which includes their admission process, examination schedule, Teaching-learning, internship programs, and also about the placement of the students. On account of the meeting held by the Governor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is planning to conduct e-learning programs for faculty.
