JNU PROFESSORS: Acknowledging irregularities in appointment procedure at the School of Physical Sciences, eight professors of the Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) have written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind.
They urged the President, who is a visitor of the university, to intervene and hold back all appointments in problem in abeyance.
The letter stated that we committed a gross violation of ethics and procedures, which occurred during the recent spate of recruitments associated with the School of Physical Sciences.
For example, an aspirant selected for the post of professor does not have the mandatory experience, he alleged. In the next case, a person chosen for the post of Associate Professor was not appointed by the selection committee, the letter stated.

It further added We pray that the mentioned appointments be withheld on all aspects of the conduct and result of the selection process, encompassing whether the best functional candidates were selected and whether the external subject matter experts on the selection committee are meaningful, The respective fields of expertise are examined by a committee of prominent physicists and astronomers, who were considered qualified to judge the quality of research.
