Jesus and Mary College in Delhi have turned to HC against the Executive Council of DU. The judgment insists on 100 percent weightage for CUET 2023 marks for admission under the minority quota in the college.

The bench of Justice and Justice Subramonium Prasad sought replies from Delhi University. The University Grants Commission (UGC) in this matter illustrated it for May 24, 2023, with a related issue.

St Stephen’s College moved to court and stated that the university decision became impugned. The college has the liberty to execute interviews for admission to UG courses. The minority category became rebellious to the decision of the Delhi HC on September 12 last month. This realized the petitioner’s freedom to select students of the minority category by executing interviews.

It further described that the University cannot take over the entrance of the learners under the 50% minority quota. This shows a clear offense to Article 30 of the Constitution of India. The Supreme Court in St. Stephen’s decision held that the liberty to appoint and accept students became the sole right under Article 30.

Petitioner College also begged the court to quash the rule and communication allocated by UGC. It became unconstitutional to the capacity. It desires to apply the same minority quota seats for the academic year 2023-24. It’s rebellious to the conclusion of this court.

Delhi HC enforced the college authority to publish a fresh prospectus providing 100 percent weightage to the CUET2022 score. The entrance to students belonging to the non-minority type refers to UG courses for 2022-2023.

The college allotted 85 percent weightage to the CUET score and 15 percent to interviews. This becomes contrary to the new admission method declared by DU.
