Due to COVID-19, all the educational institutions are conducting online lectures for the current semester as a one-time policy. Everybody is uncertain about the long term future. But, the Government of India is planning to encourage the top 100 universities in the world.
The government is planning to operate all the top 100 universities in India. How about thinking for the rest of the 30years. This creation will help to build up “Princeton Mumbai”, “ Harvard Hyderabad” or “Oxford Kolkata”. But top foreign universities would not be willing to proceed for another university in India. Foreign Universities have their branch campuses established abroad but they do not have much importance than the central university and are small in area. Top universities would guard their positions of institutions in India. It would not be easy for Harvard to hire faculty in India as compared to quality.

There are many foreign universities that are a part of the top 100 universities will agree to start operations in India. Even if Harvard would hesitate, the University of Texas at Austin, Georgia Institute of Technology, and many other universities near Singapore would not. All the foreign universities that would begin its operation in India and in South Asia would rise in reputation. There are many remarkable examples of young talent in different fields who are from India or now have to achieve something great. Sunset Pichai is running Alphabet and Google, Satya Nadella is running Microsoft. Abhijit Banerjee is the Nobel Prize awardee in Economics. Vishy Anand is one of the world’s top chess players. There are many Indian writers who are famous around the world.

The competition spirit would increase under the current dominant institutions. Also maybe many American students may prefer to study in India rather than in America. May be students in the future would have the best peer group sitting to the most ambitious and keenest students like the next generation’s Einstein, von Neumann, or Ramanujan.

The reach and prestige of American Universities would improve as they would welcome more and more students to provide outstanding opportunities. If Princeton Mumbai would be successful they can have a much larger Princeton’s main campus in New Jersey. If they would admit young talented students from Kerala they can accept many more achievers from suburban Maryland or Detroit.
