Delhi University teachers affiliated to DU and fully funded by the AAP Government did not get their salary from four months. Delhi HC said that it will hear the petition of Delhi University teachers on September 24.

The petition came into account before the council for teachers informed Justice Jyoti Singh that it is a Public Interest Litigation(PIL). The division bench should hear this appeal. Advocate Ashok Agarwal represented the teachers.

MATTER OF DELHI UNIVERSITY TO BE HEARD IN HC ON SEPTEMBER 24

Noting his submission, the Judge of Delhi HC said that matter should be listed before the appropriate bench on September 24. It would be accountable to the order of the Chief Justice.

DELHI UNIVERSITY TEACHERS ASSOCIATION FILED A PETITION IN DELHI HC

In the petition, it was mentioned that apart from teachers, there are many employees including teaching and non-teaching staff. They did not get their salary from the last four months. Eight teachers filed their petition through advocate Kumar Utkarsh. They said that they are the members of the Delhi University Teachers Association(DUTA). On behalf of the aggrieved staff, they wrote to the Delhi Government to release funds for the affiliated 12 DU colleges to pay salaries to 1,500 teachers and non-teaching staff working there.

DELHI UNIVERSITY TEACHERS SUFFERING FROM MENTAL AGONY AND HARASSMENT

In the plea, it was mentioned that due to non-payment of salary, teachers and all other employees working in those 12 colleges funded by the government are suffering from mental agony and harassment. Authority is not justifying the reason to employees about their non-payment of fees. The actions are violative of Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India that reads the provisions of the Delhi University Act, 1922. Also, it is unjust, unfair, unconstitutional, discriminatory, and unethical.

DU COLLEGES FUNDED BY DELHI GOVERNMENT

The 12 colleges of DU that are funded by the Delhi Government are Acharya Narendra Dev College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Bhagini Nivedita College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya Women’s College, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, Maharaja Agrasen College (DU), Maharshi Valmiki College of Education, and Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.
